A COLORFUL COUNTRYSIDE WEDDING: TERHI & JARKKO

Last weekend we headed to Myrskylä in the Finnish countryside to style and furnish the wedding of Terhi & Jarkko. The 160 guest party was held in a traditional country dance hall and the couple wanted it to be fun, inviting and relaxed, yet festive. The whole day we spent setting up together with the couple's family who were all super-nice.

We set the tables with casual floral arrangements in jars and votives on burlap table runners. The main table also had old wood planks set below the centerpieces. The places were set with menus/programs designed by the groom and little simple favor bags that served as place cards. We had ordered the chairs and tables from a trusted supplier. The bride and groom wanted wooden chairs instead of the regular plastic/metal folding chairs or banquet chairs. The old wooden ones worked beautifully with the feel of the venue.

We strung bistro lights and garlands made of colorful fabric scraps along the ceiling and decorated the entryway with a floral garland and clusters of vintage jars, tins and other pieces. The bride's father set up birches along the yard.

During the evening I took pics of guests and the bridal party in the photobooth, which also served as an alternative guest book. The guests wrote messages to the newlyweds on chalkboards and posed with them for the camera. I might add some of the shots here later.

VÄRIKKÄÄT MAASEUTUHÄÄT: TERHI & JARKKO

Viime viikonloppuna suuntasimme maaseudulle Myrskylään, somistamaan ja kalustamaan Terhin ja Jarkon suuren päivän. Lähes 200:n juhlavieraan häitä juhlittiin vanhalla tanssilavalla. Terhi ja Jarkko toivoivat häiden olevan tunnelmaan ja visuaaliselta ilmeeltään hauskat, rennot ja kotoisat, mutta kuitenkin juhlavat. Somistimme tilaa koko perjantain yhdessä hääparin perheiden kanssa.

Pöydät somistettiin rennon kauniilla kukka-asetelmilla, tuikku-kynttilöillä sekä juuttikangas-kaitaliinoilla. Morsiuspöytää somisti vanha puulankku. Sulhanen oli suunnitellut hääkutsun sekä menu-kortit, morsian koristeli kiitoslahjapussit, jotka toimivat myös paikkakortteina.

Tilasimme vanhahtavat puiset kalusteet paljon käyttämältämme alihankkijalta. Puiset kalusteet toimivat tilaan paljon paremmin kuin normaalit metalliset klaffi-tuolit.

Kattoa somisti bistro-valoketjut sekä kankaiset viirit. Sisäänkäynnin yhteydessä oli ihana kukka-asetelma katossa, sekä vintage-esineitä. Morsiammen isä laittoi ulos perinteisiä koivuja. Sisäpihalla oli myös heinäpaaleista ja räsymatoista tehty lounge-tila, joka sopi loistavasti teemaan.

Michaela kuvasi photoboothissa vielä itse hääjuhlassa lauantaina, kun minä stailasin taitavan assarimme Adeliinan kanssa Turussa suurta yritystapahtumaa.
